The Tamil Diwali releases, “Japan” and “Jigarthanda Double X,” have faced a disappointing start in terms of advance bookings in Tamil Nadu and Telugu States. “Japan” marks Karthi’s 25th film, and “Jigarthanda Double X” features Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah in lead roles.
Despite high expectations, these films have struggled to generate interest. The promotional content, including songs and promos, failed to create a buzz, possibly due to the pre-festival period.
For these films to gain momentum, positive word of mouth is crucial, as they are expected to have a notably lower opening in all territories. To boost their prospects, the makers sought permission for extra screenings in Tamil Nadu, which the government granted.
“Japan,” directed by Raju Murugan, is a heist comedy with a U/A certificate and features Anu Emmanuel, Sunil, and KS Ravikumar in the ensemble cast. “Jigarthanda Double X” is a sequel to the 2014 film “Jigarthanda” and has also received a U/A certificate from the CBFC, with a runtime of 2 hours and 52 minutes.
