Popular Tamil director and actor RNR Manohar has passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Chennai. He was 61. The actor’s sudden demise came as a huge shock to the Tamil film industry.
As per reports, Manohar was under medical care for almost 20 days owing to an illness.
Manohar entered the film industry and began his career in movies by assisting veteran director KS Ravikumar. He worked as an assistant director on films like Band Master and Suriyan Chandran. He has also co-directed many films in the 90s.
The veteran actor also wrote dialogues and screenplays for numerous movies, including Maindhan, Kolangal, Pudhumai Pithan, Thennavan, Punnagal Poove.
Manohar was last seen in a fantasy drama Teddy, directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan. He has also played a role in the upcoming Tamil film Veerame Vaagai Soodum.
He is survived by his wife. The couple had lost their son Ranjan aged 10, in 2012.
