What challenges does Karthik face in his love story? Does he choose his father or his lover? Will the family tensions subside, and will Karthik and Suhana live happily ever after? This is the basic premise of the film.
What about on-screen performances?
Chetan Krishna plays the main lead and he performed to the best of his abilities. His performances in all the scenes with his dad Sai Kumar were so good to see.
Hebah Patel is glamorous in the film and holds well in her character. She has showcased her glamor and acting talent in equal proportions and shares a good chemistry with Chetan.
Goparaju Ramana is very good as the grandfather and brings depth to the film. One gets a feeling that he was not utilized properly in the film.
Vennela Kishore plays a key role and is solid in the second half. How he evokes is so good to see on screen and brings relief to the film.
The other supporting cast, Sivannarayana, Bhadram, and others do well in their respective roles and bring a lot of depth to the film.
What about off-screen talents?
Dhoom Dhaam has music by Gopi Sundar and he does well with his music. All the songs are quite good and have also been placed well in the narrative.
Siddharth Ramaswamy’s camerawork is the biggest highlight of the film as the visuals are colorful and bring a new vibe to the proceedings.
The production values are top-notch and all the money spent is visible on screen. The dialogues written for the father and son are emotional.
Macha Sai Kishor has directed this film and the way he gives emotions and entertainment equal importance is quite good to see in the film.
Gopi Mohan has penned the story and screenplay for this film and his work is okay. If the screenplay would have been a lot more gripping, things would have been a lot better.
The romantic track between the lead pair looks dull. More focus on this aspect would have made a lot of difference to the narrative.
The film is about the feud between the hero and the heroine’s family. More emotional moments and seriousness in this aspect would have done a world of good for the film.
The second half is more on comedy and if the emotional angle had been handled in a better manner, Dhoom Dhaam would have been an even better product.
What’s Hot.?
- Father-son scenes
- Music by Gopi Sundar
- Comedy scenes
What’s Not.?
- Dull screenplay
- Logical issues
Verdict: Overall, Dhoom Dhaam is a passable family drama that has its moments. The comedy is decent but the emotions could have been better. But the presence of noted faces and a good second half make this film a passable watch.
