On the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi festival today, all eyes are on Khairatabad Ganapati for the celebrations in Telangana. The largest idol is erected every year for which many devotees throng at the site to catch a glimpse. But this year for the very first time it’s going to be small.
Today Ganesh idol from Khairatabad is going to appear to the devotees as ‘Dhanwantari Narayana’. In the wake of the Corona epidemic this time the construction of the idol was restrained to just 9 feet.
Godess Mahalakshmi on the right and Saraswati on the left can be found sitting on either side of the eco friendly Ganesha, whose avatar is with herbs and medical book in hands.
Reportedly, the festival committee members said, due to the corona virus outbreak, devotees are not allowed directly to visit the site. Organizers revealed that arrangements have been made to conduct the pooja activities and other customary offerings through the website www.ganapathideva.org.
The Khairatabad organizers made 100 kgs of laddu prasadam for Ganesh. Interestingly, in Suruchi Tapeshwar, Mandapeta Mandal, East Godavari district 100 kg of laddu has been prepared on which the idol of Ganesha is marvelously crafted on this laddu. The laddu will be shifted from Mandapeta to Hyderabad.
