Story
Kansaraja (Devadatta Nage) rules with tyranny, instilling fear in everyone. During a visit to Kashi, a Shiva saint predicts that his life is threatened by his sister’s third child. Amid dramatic events, 21 years pass. Kansaraja’s sister (Devyani) gives birth to a daughter, Satya (Manasa Varanasi). Krishna (Ashok Galla) falls in love with Satya after meeting her at a wedding. What does Kansaraja do after his release from prison? What secret did his sister hide from him? How does Krishna fight for Satya and confront Kansaraja? The rest of the story unfolds these mysteries.
What about on-screen performances?
Ashok Galla is a massive misfit in the film. His lean image does not suit the action image one bit. But still, the young actor tried hard to impress and was decent in the action episodes.
Manasa Varanasi makes her debut with this film and she is not that great. She needs acting classes and looks out of place in the film. Only her looks are decent in the film.
Devadatta Nage plays a key role and he makes his presence felt in the film. The Aadipurush fame actor does well and one gets a feeling that he should have been utilized a bit more.
Getup Srinu and Sanjay Swaroop do well in their limited roles. Jhansi is the best part of the film and does her role in a very convincing manner. The rest of the cast are okay.
What about off-screen talents?
Bheems Cecerolio has composed the music and his work is impressive. The needed BGM for the action sequences has been elevated well by the young composer in the film.
The makers have spent a lot of money and that is visible on screen. Each penny spent is showcased in the rich visuals of the film. The dialogues are loud as hell.
The film needs serious editing as the runtime feels quite lengthy. The screenplay goes for a toss and things look prolonged in the film from the word go.
Devaki Nandana Vasudeva has an interesting main point, but the director faltered in crafting a screenplay that does justice to it. But that does not happen one bit here.
For a concept like this, the narrative needed to be gripping and maintain suspense throughout. However, the film fails to achieve this. Despite incorporating a mythological touch, the story often ends up as illogical drama in many places.
The love track between the hero and heroine is poorly executed, with romantic scenes lacking depth. On top of that, logic is nowhere to be found. Similarly, the action sequences between the hero and villains lack proper impact.
The makers have selected the wrong script and genre for Ashok Galla’s second film. They should have made him do a subtle film to showcase his talent but that does not happen and disappoints one and all.
What’s Hot.?
- Fight sequences
- Basic plot
What’s Not?
- Casting
- Screenplay
- Dull pace
- Over-the-top performances
Verdict
Overall, Devaki Nandana Vasudeva is a film that falters in every department. Ashok Galla needs to choose better scripts if he has to sustain himself in the industry. By doing such films, he will go nowhere as the film is silly, outed, and tedious to watch.
