The Covid-19 delta variant is fanning the world again. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently warned that the deadly variant is currently active in 185 countries. In its weekend report, it revealed that 90 percent of the samples collected between June 15 and September 15 were infections due to delta variant.
Maria Van Kerkhove, head of Covid’s technical department at the World Health Organization, said that the delta type is now more serious than any other type of variant. In addition to those who have not been vaccinated, it is of concern that it is spreading to those who have been vaccinated with two doses.
The Delta mutation itself is becoming dangerous, and more and more new types are emerging every day. Fifty-one percent of the delta models identified in Israel are of AY12. The world’s first AY12 case was identified on September 7, 2020.
Since then, as of August 20 this year, more than 40,000 have been registered. The first AY12 case in India appeared on August 30 this year in Uttarakhand. Since then, it has spread to 15 states and union territories of the country. Now there are 12 cases in both the Telugu states.
AY12 has already been declared dangerous by the Union Ministry of Health. In the early stages, if a person gets Covid, only 20 percent of the members of the same household are infected. In the second phase, it reached 80 percent of the members.
