In a major blow to Delhi Capitals, team skipper Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League 2021.
Iyer dislocated his left shoulder in the first ODI against England. In the 8th over of the visitor’s innings, the 26-year-old batsmen dived to stop a drive hit by Bairstow.
Now, the reports suggest the youngster will need surgery on his shoulder and will go under the blade after the first week of April. Therefore, Iyer may be out of action for the next few months and won’t be seen in the action before September.
With Shreyas Iyer opting out of the IPL, Delhi Capitals will need a new skipper for the complete 2021 season. Reports suggest that either Shikhar Dhawan or Rishabh Pant may get the chance to lead the side in IPL 2021.
