Badminton legend and Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone’s father Prakash Padukone has been hospitalised days after testing positive for Covid-19.
The veteran badminton player, who was admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru, is recovering well from the infection.
As per reports, the 65-year-old is likely to be discharged later this week. Mr Padukone’s wife Ujjala and younger daughter Anisha have also contracted the virus, but have been told to isolate at home.
For the unversed, Prakash Padukone is the first Indian to win the prestigious All England Championships title in 1980. He is also the first Indian to win a medal at the World Championships after clinching a bronze in the 1983 edition.
He is one of the most respected figures in world badminton. Padukone even emerged as a role model of Indian sports during his playing days in the 1970s and 1980s.
