Former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir seems to be receiving death threats from Pakistan. Delhi Police sources said on Thursday that the e-mails were sent from Pakistan in the name of ISIS Kashmir.
At around 9.30 pm on Tuesday, Gambhir received an email from an unknown person. Back on Wednesday afternoon, he got another e-mail from the same mail. In the second mail, they sent a video of Gambhir’s house. “We intended to kill you, but you survived yesterday. If you love the life of your family, stay away from politics and the Kashmir issue,” the unknown person said in the mail.
Top Delhi police sources, however, said that the emails were generated in Karachi, Pakistan. They were created by a young man named Shaheed Hamid, about 20-25 years of age. He is a student at Sindh University in Karachi.
As soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker filed a police complaint, the officials have tightened the security outside the parliamentarian’s house.
Police sources said they have found no significant motive behind the threats. The investigation into the matter is continuing and the findings will be shared with intelligence teams for further follow-up.
