Sumaya Reddy is making her debut as a producer, writer, and lead actress with the movie Dear Uma, set to release on April 18. Prithvi Amber is playing the male lead role, with Nagesh as the line producer and Nithin Reddy as the executive producer. Sai Rajesh Mahadev handled the screenplay, dialogues, and direction. Raj Thota is the cinematographer and Radhan composed the music.
In an interview, Sumaya shared insights about the project. Speaking about her background, she said that she is from Anantapur and started as a model before acting and added that is harder than it looks.
She said that a recurring dream during the COVID-19 lockdown inspired her to write Dear Uma and added that the story is meant to connect with viewers. Speaking about Prithvi Amber, she said that he liked the story instantly and joined the project despite it being a new production.
She said that the film critiques corporate hospital middlemen but not the medical field itself, aiming to highlight ethical issues. She also said that the movie is a blend of fiction and reality and includes a social message and a solution. She also talked about the challenges of being producer and mentioned that the budget exceeded than expected.
She added that Sai Rajesh contributed creatively, Radhan’s music added soul, and Raj Thota’s visuals elevated the film.
