Legendary South African cricketer Dale Steyn has announced retirement from all forms of cricket with immediate effect. He took to social media on Wednesday to declare his retirement.
“Today, I officially retire from the game I love the most. Bittersweet but grateful,” Steyn wrote.
Steyn retired from Test cricket in 2019 with an eye on limited-overs formats. However, he couldn’t show better results injuries over the last few years. He last played an international in February 2020 – a T20I against Australia.
The 38-year-old has ended a 17-year career, with playing 93 Tests, 125 ODIs and 47 T20Is for the Proteas. He picked 439 wickets at a stunning average of 22.95 in the long format game and finished his career with eight on the all-time list of wicket-takers. He also bagged 196 wickets in ODI and 64 in T20Is.
