Former PCC Chief D Srinivas’s joining of the Congress Party has further been delayed, according to the latest reports, due to several intricate issues. He was supposed to officially join the Congress party today, in the presence of Sonia Gandhi, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and others. On Thursday, Srinivas met with Sonia and discussed the modalities of joining the party, in a meeting that lasted for over 40 minutes.
At the last minute, Srinivas’s joining of the Congress party was stopped, on the note that he would be disqualified as the MP of the Rajya Sabha, as he is currently the sitting MP of the Rajya Sabha, from the TRS party. If he joined the Congress now, then Srinivas would be disqualified under the provisions of the anti-defection act.
Another reason is also being pointed out as the reason for Srinivas’s delay in joining the Congress. Srinivas’s son Aravind Dharmapuri is a BJP MP and is known to be a very strong Congress hater. He recently made several disparaging remarks on Sonia Gandhi, and the group against Srinivasis said to have pointed this out and wanted the Congress High Command to take into consideration this factor too while admitting Srinivas. As a result, his joining is said to have been delayed.
