Hyderabad Cyber Crime police have issued a warning advising people to be vigilant regarding phone calls from unknown numbers. In a statement released on Tuesday, they specifically mentioned several phone numbers, including +94777 455913, +37127913091, +56322553736, +37052529259, and +255901130460, urging individuals not to answer calls from these numbers.
The police highlighted that calls from numbers starting with codes such as +371 (Latvia), +375 (Belarus), +381 (Serbia), +563 (Lova), +370 (Lithuania), and +255 (Tanzania) often result in the caller hanging up immediately after the recipient answers. If the recipient attempts to call back, there is a risk that their contact list and sensitive information, including bank and credit card details, could be copied within three seconds.
Furthermore, the police cautioned against following any instructions to press numbers like 90 or 09 if suggested by the caller. Engaging in such actions could lead to unauthorized access to the victim’s SIM card, allowing scammers to make calls at the victim’s expense or potentially implicate them in criminal activities.
