Finally, after losing three games in a row, Chennai Super Kings won a match and that too in style. They achieved a 10-wicket victory against Kings XI Punjab by chasing a huge total of 179 successfully. It was the CSK’s openers Shane Watson (83*) and Faf du Plessis (87*) who have done the job for their team.
After winning the toss, KXIP skipper KL Rahul elected to bat first. Punjab got a good start from its openers, Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Both of them continued their stupendous form in this match as well. They made a partnership of 61 runs for the first wicket. Piyush Chawla got the wicket of Mayank and broke this partnership. Mandeep Singh, who is playing his first match of this season, played a good cameo by scoring 27 runs. After he got out, Nicholas Pooran and Rahul kept the scorecard going. In the process, Rahul made his half-century as well. Shardul Thakur got rid of both of them in the 18th over. After that, Maxwell and Sarfaraz Khan stayed till the end and helped Punjab to score 178/4.
In the second innings, CSK got a good start from its openers Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis. In all the previous games, CSK failed to get a good start from their openers. They tried to rectify that mistake in this game and they did it in style. It was a pleasure to watch both Waston and du Plessis hitting around the stadium. After a series of failures, even Watson found his mojo. On the whole, they have successfully given a 10 wicket victory to their team by scoring 181/0.
