The newly formed Congress government in Telangana has been doing a fine job with the enforcement of Law and order. However, in a shocking report, it has been established that crime rate is in fact on a rise in Telangana.
Telangana has reported a 22.5% increase in overall crime till November 2024, with a total of 1,69,477 cases registered, according to the Telangana Police Annual Report presented by DGP Dr. Jitender on Sunday. The state also saw a significant 43.33% rise in cybercrime cases during the year.
DGP Jitender attributed the increase in crime numbers to enhanced focus on tackling drug-related offences and cybercrimes, which led to a higher number of cases being registered. He highlighted the success of law enforcement efforts, including substantial drug seizures and the freezing and refunding of amounts linked to cyber fraud cases.
While conventional crimes such as robbery, burglary, murder, rape, and cheating have increased, the state remained largely peaceful. “Except for a few incidents, there were no major incidents of Maoist activity or communal unrest,” the DGP said.
