Vaccination has created panic in the country again. Lately, medical students were put on the priority list for vaccination. Vaccine is to be given in an interval of three doses. Meanwhile, after taking the second dose of Covishield, a final year MBBS student became a victim of COVID-19.
FINAL-YEAR MBBS student from Sion hospital, Mumbai tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday, days after receiving the second dose of the vaccine Covid-19. Doctors claimed even after both doses, it could take several days for immunity to build as the adverse reaction triggered even before the immunity was developed.
Last week, the 21-year-old received the Covishield jab. He developed mild symptoms of the viral infection due to adverse drug reaction yesterday and underwent a test that came out to be positive.
His hostel-mates who received the inoculation have been isolated and put on quarantine as a safety measure.
The student was later admitted to Seven hills hospital. Dr Balakrishna Adsul, in-charge of Seven Hill Hospital, said: “The medical student was infected immediately after receiving the second dose. He has developed mild symptoms and is stable. It can take up to 45 days for the immune system to fully develop after a vaccine dose.”
