The central government has taken a crucial decision amidst corona virus outbreak. Domestic and foreign flight services have been suspended until May 3rd due to Modi led government’s recent extension of the lockdown to May 3rd. A seven point appeal has been made to all citizens by PM Narendra Modi in a live speech today.
The Center has decided to continue the lockdown as the virus infection has overgrown in manifolds putting everyone’s life at stake. Although relaxation has been permitted in few states, it comes with strict amended Covid-19 guidelines, which will be released tomorrow.
“All domestic and international scheduled airlines operation shall remain suspended till 11.59 pm of 3rd May 2020,” the ministry tweeted.
Airlines were the worst hit in the recent times with 700 cancellations per week due to corona pandemic. Deccan airlines had to shut its services due to dramatic drop in the business. Many airlines have given a pay cut to its employees until the airlines were allowed to resume operations. Since March 24, when the nation was put on a strict lockdown, 650 aircraft have been stranded at different airports across India.
Consequently Indian Railways has also made a key decision in the wake of Prime Minister Modi’s lockdown extension. Train services are no longer being restored nationwide. It has been made clear that all types of passenger trains will not run till May 3rd.
Mail, Express, Premium Trains, Kolkata Metro, Suburban Trains and Konkan Railway will discontinue the services till May.
