The total number of cases of the newly detected ‘Omicron’ variant in India rose to 578 on Monday, according to data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
As per the Director of Public Health, Andhra Pradesh has reported two more cases of the Omicron variant, taking the tally to six. The two new cases were recorded from Ananthapuram and Prakasam districts.
Delhi is leading in Omicron tally with 142 cases, while Maharashtra with 141, Kerala with 57 and Gujarat with 49 cases are followed by the national capital. However, 151 people have been discharged or migrated across the country.
Meanwhile, 6,531 new cases and 7,141 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours. The active caseload currently stands at 75,841, while the recovery rate stands at 98.40 per cent.
On the other side, night curfews have been implemented in India as states are tightening restrictions to curb the spread of the Omicron variant.
