Not less than a month after registering the first case in Karnataka, India’s tally of fast-spreading strain Omicron has crossed the 200-mark, the Union Health Ministry said today.
Out of them, 77 patients have fully recovered or migrated, the ministry added in its statement.
As per the official data, both Maharashtra and Delhi have reported the highest number of cases of the new variant — 54. They are followed by Telangana (20 cases), Karnataka (19), Rajasthan (18), Kerala (15) and Gujarat (14).
Meanwhile, the country recorded 5,326 new Covid-19 cases and 453 deaths in the last 24 hours. The active cases in India stand at 79,097, the lowest in 574 days. With the addition of the latest cases, the total number of cases reported in the country now stands at 3.48 crore.
