While many experts warned about the possible Covid-19 third wave attack in the coming months, Dr Satish Ghanta, a neonatal and pediatric critical care specialist, said the virus may knock on our door every year just like the common flu. Just like the other cases of flu and seasonal diseases that occur every year during the rainy and winter seasons, Covid will also show its effect every year.
Dr. Satish said the third wave is expected to arrive next month. However, it may not be as effective as the first and second waves. Its impact is likely to continue until November.
While the First Wave affected many people, the Second Wave had a major impact on the youth and middle-aged. Young children, even those under 18, are affected. Experts predict that the severity and impact of the virus will remain low in the Third Wave.
Nearly 60 per cent of the people in the country have been affected by the virus, according to the latest Zero Positivity Survey. However, the proportion of children under the age of 18 who have not been vaccinated is 25 to 30 percent. Yet 20 percent of adults have not been vaccinated. Now there are chances of a third wave impact on them.
