Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy in a recent 8 min speech stated Tablighi congregation as a spiritual event and requested people not to give any religious colour or consider the attendees as someone who committed crime.
A recent spike in the corona virus positive cases in AP have been attributed to Tablighi Jamaat attendees. The Andhra Pradesh government had even appealed to the returnees to voluntarily give their blood samples to the govt hospitals if they attended Tablighi Jamaat meet in Delhi between March 13-March 15.
The Tablighis have hogged the limelight after the religious congregation organized in South Delhi’s Nizamuddin triggered a number of Covid-19 clusters across the nation, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
”It’s unfortunate that the disease has spread locally from some foreign spiritual delegates who attended the meeting. But we should not label the spread of disease to a particular religion or community and misconceive them as the deliberate wrong doers, ” Cm said.
He said the corona victims should be treated with compassion but not distance them with hatred. Our Indian spiritual leaders such as Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (Art of living), Jaggi Vasudev (Isha foundation), Mata Amritanandamay, Paul Dinakaran or Wesley conduct many international events. There are greater probabilities that the Covid-19 spread could spread in such evens too.
”The jamat event should only be considered unfortunate but not deliberate. Corona virus has no religion nor medicine. It has no rich-poor discrimination and no differentiation between the countries. It’s an invisible enemy which we all should fight together”. CM said
