In shocking news to Team India fans, the Indian cricket team’s wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and training assistant Dayanand Garani tested positive for Coronavirus.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday said that wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, bowling coach Bharath Arun and standby player Abhimanyu Easwaran have also been put in quarantine as they were believed close contacts of Dayanand Garani.
While Pant contracted the virus on July 8 and Garani was found positive on July 14. All four of Garani, Saha, Arun and Easwaran have been quarantined for 10 days. They will not travel to Durham with the team for a practice match.
Meanwhile, BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla said the virus has affected no other player in the team. The practice match at Durham starts on July 20 and the Test series will mark the beginning of the second cycle of the World Test Championship.
