All the AP building contractors, who were specifically hired by the AP government, have raged against the Jagan government now, holding protests in different cities wearing black shirts, over non-payment of their long-pending bills. They said that there not even in the position to approach banks, due to the non-payment of bills.
They also said that the government has ruined their jobs, as they haven’t been paid in over two years, despite completing their contractual obligations, and as a result, they are unable to take up new projects, as they are not in a position to take new loans from banks. A similar situation arose during the time of the late YSR, who issued a special GO soon after getting to know the plight of the contractors. According to the GO, the pending arrears were immediately released to the contractors, easing up the situation.
The contractors said that the government has to pay Rs. 1000 to all the small contractors, and bigger amounts for the higher ups. Currently, agitations are going around all around the state, with the latest one having been organised in Vizag city.
