Abandoned at birth and raised in a hospital, conjoined twins Veena and Vani from Hyderabad have defied the odds and passed the Intermediate Examinations in first class on Tuesday.
While Veena has scored 712 marks, Vani secured 707 marks in results declared by the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE).
It is worthy to mention that the twins haven’t even taken special privileges provided by the Intermediate Board as they want to excel through their own handwork and merit. They have also refused to take the extra time privilege given to them.
Despite the hurdles they face, the twins are cheerful and optimistic about their future. Vani and Veena said that they aspire to become chartered accountants.
For the unversed, Veena and Vani were born to an underprivileged couple in Telangana’s Warangal district on October 15, 2003. Labourers living on daily wages, their parents had to abandon the girls. Doctors, however, could not separate the twins as they shared critical blood vessels.
