As a result, the party chose to nominate his son Karti Chidambaram from Sivaganga Lok Sabha Constituency, which was held by his father.
P, Chidambaram got elected from the same constituency on seven occasions – five times as Indian National Congress candidate and twice as Tamil Mannela Congress – in the past beginning from 1984.
The Congress on Sunday released its ninth list of 10 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, fielding Karti as party candidate.
Karti Chidambaram is facing trial in corruption cases, including the INX media money laundering case.
