Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the letter, CM YS Jagan appealed for special measures to be taken to curb electricity and excess fuel charges.
Jagan informed the PM that electricity demand has increased by 15 per cent in the last six months after the Covid-19 pandemic and it has increased by over 20 per cent in the last month alone.
“In some cases, we are paying Rs 20 per unit to buy electricity,” the CM said in the letter. “We urge the Centre to allocate 20 racks of coal for AP thermal projects. Coal plants that have been idle for some time should be rehabilitated. Supply gas to AP on an emergency basis through ONGC, Reliance,” Jagan requested Modi.
CM Jagan asked that the central power generation companies should be revived and another 500 MW of power should be generated.
