The funeral of a person in Srikakulam district Palasa who died of coronavirus virus has been maltreated in a shockingly unacceptable way. The corpse was taken away in a crane and discarded recklessly. The incident soon went viral and caused a lot of furore in the internet. After learning about the Palasa incident, CMO officials spoke to the Srikakulam district collector and sought details. District Collector Nivas probed into the case and suspended Municipal Commissioner T. Nagendra Kumar and Sanitary Inspector N. Rajeev.CMO officials stated that certain protocol has to be followed even while discarding Corona virus infected corpses.
Ex-CM and TDP leader Chandra babu Naidu shared on twitter that it was shocking to see wrapping the dead bodies in plastic covers and disposing it in JCB/tractors and expressed that it was inhuman and humiliating. Even the dead body has to be treated in a dignified manner. He shared that it’s a shame to witness such sad things and hurled abuses on Jagan’s governance.
In the past, the central government has issued guidelines on how to perform funerals in case someone dies with corona. The government has once again reminded the medical department that it has already issued clear directives on non-discrimination and inhumane treatment of those infected with COVID-19.
CM YS Jagan too grieved over the pathetic incident. He tweeted in Telugu
“Shocked to see Covid infected deceased body being transported in JCB at Palasa, Srikakulam district. The way some people acted when they were supposed to show humanity was hurtful. Events like these should not be repeated elsewhere. stringent action should be taken on those responsible”.
