The ministry of Information and Broadcasting has issued a new SOP regarding the seating arrangements in movie theaters.
As per the latest orders, cinema halls and multiplexes across the country (excluding containment zones) can run with 100% seating capacity. The new regulation will be coming to effect from the 1st of February. The respective state governments can decide whether to permit 100% occupancy or continue with the current limit of 50%.
Up until now, movie theaters were allowed to operate with 50% seating occupancy and that won’t be the case anymore.
The ministry advised theater managements to make sure that proper sanitary measures are taken and social distance is practised at theater premises in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Now that theaters are permitted to movie theaters are allowed to operate with 100% seating capacity, we can expect a considerable spike in theatrical revenues for forthcoming releases.
Tollywood will be witnessing a flurry of new releases in the next 6-7 months and all these films will be largely benefitted from the latest SOP issued by the ministry of I&B.
