A viral video showing some Christian group organizing prayers in front of a locked Ramalayam temple in Andhra Pradesh has sparked outrage on social media.
As per reports, a woman from Gangavaram village in East Godavari district had organized Christian prayers right in front of Ramalayam temple. She also served food to the people who attended the meeting.
But her son was upset by his mother’s behaviour of wasting money for such prayers and quarreled with her. When the pastor tried to prevent the issue, the son pushed the pastor and locals there immediately called up Pamarru police. Meanwhile, a cousin of Srinivas took photos and videos of the incident and created false posts on social media, claiming that the Christian group occupied Ram Mandir and are doing Christian prayers.
BJP leaders in Andhra Pradesh, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy and Somu Veerraju also shared the news with the video, by claiming that Christian missionaries in the state had captured a Ram mandir and were doing Christian prayers.
However, East Godavari SP Ravindra Babu has refuted the false information being propagated by some people and clarified that it was a falsely distorted communal issue. He also said there are no disputes between local Hindus and Christians and there are cordial relations between the two communities in the village.
As per the police, a woman named Mangayamma had been conducting Christian prayer meetings on the road situated in front of her house, which is located next to the Rama temple. The officials said that the social media post was made intending to provoke religious hatred and explained that no case had been registered over the entire issue.
