The Telugu Desam Party experienced a terrible defeat in the Kuppam assembly constituency, in the recently held panchayat elections. Candidates representing the YSRCP won 74 out of the 89 gram panchayat seats, while members of the TDP won 14 seats and a candidate representing the Congress party won 1 seat.
What’s interesting is that the Kuppam constituency is represented by Chandrababu Naidu himself. Despite that, none of the candidates who represented the TDP managed to cross the single-digit mark with their votes in the constituency.
Candidates belonging to the TDP failed to win in areas like Kuppam, Ramakuppam, Gudupalle and Shantipuram, which are considered to be TDP strongholds. Many are considering this victory by the YSRCP as the trust and belief that people have in the government, which is why they have once again chosen the ruling party.
Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, the advisor to the YSRCP government, said that the people have completely lost their faith in TDP and in Chandrababu Naidu. He also said that the people immensely trust Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to do the right thing, which is why they have decided to vote for his party.
In the local elections, the YSRCP has claimed to have won 90% of the seats. In Macherla constituency, for example, all the 77 gram panchayat seats have been won by candidates representing the YSRCP. Out of these 77 seats, 74 candidates were elected unanimously, while 4 seats went for elections.
