The Kuppam constituency has been TDP’s strongest pillar since the very beginning. The TDP has always won in the constituency and has been undefeated until recently after the YSRCP gained popularity in the constituency after the 2019 elections. The YSRCP majorly won in the constituency, in the MPTC, ZPTC, municipality and other local body elections as well, causing a major threat for the TDP.
The YSRCP has been trying to win in Kuppam ever since the 2019 elections – which is Chandrababu’s home constituency and went so far as to challenge the TDP to win the 2024 elections in Kuppam, and in a recent statement, TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu threw the challenge back at the YSRCP, challenging them to take Kuppam away from him, in the 2024 elections, if they can. Chandrababu Naidu is currently touring Kuppam as a part of a two-day tour and has addressed party workers and sympathizers in Devaraju Puram in Ramakuppam Mandal. He is expected to cover three mandals in these two days.
The last time Chandrababu toured Kuppam was on October 29th and 30th, ahead of the municipal elections. Chandrababu also said that the YSRCP has been trying to take away Kuppam with money, but expressed confidence in the voters and the cadre, who would always stand by him. Chandrababu also said that he would visit Kuppam once every three months.
