Centre alerted states to disallow any provision of vaccination packages after reports emerged that some hospitality sector players had started luring people with these schemes.
Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted: “Hotels offering Covid-19 vaccination packages shall face strict legal action! Such activities are in contravention to rules under the national Covid vaccination program and must cease immediately.”
The union health ministry warned strictly to all states on Saturday, saying it took cognizance of information from officials that some private hospitals are offering packages for Covid vaccination in partnership with hotels, which is violation of the rules. The Centre has once again reminded in the letter that there are only four available options to sell i.e government centres, private hospitals, work place COVID vaccination centre at government offices to be run by government while at private offices by private hospitals and ‘near to home centres’ for physically handicapped and aged patients.
“Apart from that there is no other avenue for carrying out vaccination. Therefore vaccination being carried out in star hotels is contrary to guidelines and must be stopped immediately. Necessary legal and administrative actions should be initiated against such institutions”, read the letter by union health ministry.
