Kalki 2898 A.D, directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Vyjayanthi Movies generated immense anticipation and is one of the most awaited movies in India. The movie has stellar cast which includes the pan-Indian star Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan, Disha Patani and others. This ambitious project is set to break records and redefine Indian cinema.
The film was announced under the working title Project K in February 2020, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Vyjayanthi Movies. Kalki 2898 A.D. is being made on a budget of ₹600 crore, making it the most expensive Indian film ever made to date.
The latest buzz we hear is that the leading streaming companies Netflix and Prime Video are in the front row to get the streaming rights and they are ready to spend more than 160 crores. This was a huge amount but it is being said that the OTT giants are assuming it to be worthy given the stardom of Prabhas and stellar cast in the movie. We need to wait and see which platform will aquire the Kalki rights.
The film’s music is scored by Santhosh Narayanan, with cinematography by Djordje Stojiljkovic and production design by Nitin Zihani Choudhary, known for his work in Tumbbad. The movie is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on 9 May 2024.
