Bubonic plague, a bacterial illness that is spread by insects dwelling on wild rodents like marmots, has been found in a northern Chinese city, after a speculated case was accounted for on Saturday.
Bayannur, which is an Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region has declared a level III of warning of plague avoidance and control.
As per the state reports, the Bayannur patient – a herdsman has been self isolated and found to be having stable health condition. The medical experts are still assessing the suspected case and still figuring out the actual trigger factor of the disease in him.
Although life threatening, the doctors assert that the bacterial disease is treatable by administering antibacterial antibiotics. Plague was one of the main reasons for black death in 14 th century.
The Black Death caused about 50 million deaths across Africa, Asia and Europe. The bubonic plague is manifested by swollen lymph nodes. The disease is difficult to identify in the beginning stage as the flu-like symptoms generally develop after three to seven days.
