In a breaking development, the Supreme Court of India has constituted an independent SIT comprising of CBI officers to probe the Tiruamala Laddu issue.
The Supreme Court on Friday transferred the investigation into the Tirumala Laddu controversy, which revolves around allegations of using adulterated ghee in the preparation of the famed prasadam, from the Andhra Pradesh Special Investigation Team (SIT) to a newly constituted court-monitored committee. This move aims to address concerns raised by devotees while ensuring a fair and transparent inquiry.
The newly formed committee will comprise two officers from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), two officers from the Andhra Pradesh State Police, and one senior official from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). The investigation will be overseen by the CBI Director, the Court ruled.
The case will be monitored by the central director and there will be extreme scrutiny regarding the same.
