The Bombay High Court on Friday pulled up the Centre on its existing vaccination policy which says that a door-to-door vaccination drive across India was not possible.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G S Kulkarni stated that it could not figure out what the Union Government’s problem was in commencing door-to-door vaccination when individual states such as Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir were already made it possible. The HC asked the Centre to make a solid decision on its current policy.
“How is it that individual states like Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir have organized and are successfully doing door-to-door vaccination? What is the Centre’s comment on the Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir pattern?” the bench asked.
The court directed Addl Solicitor General Anil Singh to take directions from the Centre on the letter and posted the case for further hearing on June 14.
