The revolutionary poet Varavara Rao has finally been granted bail. It is learned that his wife Hemalatha had approached the Bombay High Court seeking the release of her husband Varavara Rao on bail, who was recently tested positive with coronavirus and was seriously ill.
The court responded positively to Varavara Rao’s wife’s petition seeking bail for her husband under Article 21 of the Constitution. The court granted conditional bail as it felt it was inappropriate to send him to jail under these circumstances.
The Bombay High Court on Monday granted him bail while he was in jail in connection with the Bhima Koregaon case.
The court has granted six months of medical bail with special conditions. The Special NIA has stipulated that he should remain within the jurisdiction of the court (within Mumbai).
