The Bharatiya Janata Party has had very little impact in the Telugu states and continues to do so. However, following the success of the party in the GHMC elections, things have gotten interesting in Telangana, with the Telangana BJP members, especially Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay, doing their very best to get into the good books of the people. Bandi Sanjay has been touring Telangana for a few months now and is currently touring the erstwhile combined Mahbubnagar district, where the response has been massive.
At the same time, BJP leaders from the Centre are also visiting the state, making several promises, and trying to capture the people’s attention. Recently, the Union minister of state for Jal Sakthi, Prahlad Singh, joined in and announced that the Centre would take up the modernisation work of the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme on the Tungabhadra river to help the Jogulamba Gadwal district. Now, BJP national president JP Nadda is all set to land in Telangana on Thursday, where he would be joining Bandi Sanjay in Mahbubnagar district and address the people of the district and also interact with the members of the party.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Maheshwaram on May 14th, where Bandi Sanjay’s second phase of his padayatra would conclude. Shah is expected to address a public meeting as well while there. It is now to be seen how much of an impact all of this would make for the BJP, in Telangana.
