The counting of votes for the five states elections – Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa – has begun at 8 am today and the Bharatiya Janata Party has shown complete dominance in the polls.
The BJP is set to retain power in UP, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, while Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has snatched Punjab from Congress. The AAP has made a giant leap in Punjab as it looks to win three-fourths of seats in 117-member assembly.
However, the results were contrary to expectations that the five state elections would deal a blow to the BJP. Many surveys revealed that the Yogi Adityanath party would fail to form the government in Uttar Pradesh. But the results proved that the BJP remained unmoved in four states.
All other parties were weakened. The SP, however, was somewhat strengthened. The BJP lost seats slightly. The controversial farm laws were withdrawn at the right time and this helped BJP to win people’s mandate.
However, the BJP got unilateral results in the five state elections. It has won everywhere except the blows against Punjab. The BJP faced many challenges before the elections and easily overcame all of them.
