After much speculation and rumours, the Telangana BJP has today finally announced Etela Rajendar as its candidate for the Huzurabad by-elections, officially. It was almost certain that Etela would only be the BJP’s candidate, but there was a little bit of doubt over the matter, with Etela’s wife Jamuna dropping hints that she might be the candidate for Huzurabad, by saying that it would be the same if either she or husband turned out to be the BJP’s candidate.
Etela has retained the Huzurabad constituency as its MLA since 2009, from the TRS party itself. He quit the TRS, and his post as an MLA after he was dropped by the TRS as a cabinet minister, following allegations that he illegally took over the lands of certain farmers. With Etela now being officially announced as the BJP’s candidate, the war between TRS and BJP will officially begin very soon, with the TRS aimed at winning the elections at any cost.
On the other hand, the TRS has already announced its candidate, G. Srinivas Yadav, the President of the party’s student wing, and he even filed his nomination on October 1st. The by-polls for the Huzurabad constituency will take place on October 30th.
