Jana Sena and Andhra Pradesh BJP are known to be allies, and the two parties have been working together for a long time now. It was announced a long time ago that the two parties would contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha by-polls for Tirupati with a common candidate. Of course, later on, news broke out saying that the BJP is sidetracking and lowkey avoiding the Jana Sena.
This is exactly what is happening with the municipal elections in Tirupati as well. Of the 50 corporation seats of Tirupati, the YSRCP has already claimed 21 seats, as a result of which only the remaining 29 are going for elections now. The BJP has been given the permission to contest for 8 seats, while the Jana Sena has been limited to contest in just 3 seats.
Whatever might be the AP BJP’s plan regarding winning the municipal elections in Tirupati, it most definitely doesn’t seem to be working out in their favour pretty easily. The AP BJP is probably of the view that it would get the votes of the people of AP, just the way it got the votes of the people of Telangana.
However, they’re missing out on the fact that the Telangana BJP has a dedicated vote bank, which the AP BJP does. It is failing to realise that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are to be dealt with differently, and if the kind of tactics used in Telangana are used in AP, it might backfire completely.
The AP BJP is making its first major mistake by sidetracking its alliance with the Jana Sena, as Jana Sena definitely has a stronger hold on AP than BJP. By sidetracking Jana Sena, there’s no benefit for BJP, and only loss, while the Jana Sena will manage to attract the people. Maybe it’s time the AP BJP members revaluated their tecnhiques.
