In a major blow to the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh, the Central government is set to take complete control over the Polavaram project.
When Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to implement the reverse tendering process, the Centre severely objected it. But the dynamic CM has still continued to move on with the same, going against the Centre. Later, the High court ordered to halt it. Now the Centre has come up with the decision of taking control over Polavaram project and resume the construction works.
For rejecting special status to Andhra, BJP faced a severe negativity which was reflected in the recent assembly and Lok Sabha elections, where the national party was confined to less than 1 percent vote share.
So the BJP pledged to make it big in AP by the next elections, even without offering special status to the state. So, the one big chance, BJP currently has, to reach the goal, is by completing Polavaram and take the complete credit of it.
On the other side, if at all BJP manages to complete Polavaram, nothing can be a bigger blow to the YSRCP government than this, as it may have to face the jolt both from the national party and also from the public.
