Yet another tragedy happened in the Visakhapatnam as a major fire broke out in Visakha Solvents’ plant in Pharma City, Parwada, Visakhapatnam. A series of blasts heard around 11 pm yesterday and the locals say that they have heard loud noises for 17 times and there were four workers at the site at the time of the accident and they ran to safety. One employee, however, suffered burn injuries and has been shifted to a private hospital.
Now, the media confirmed that the Chemist Srinivas has been dead due to this major mishap that occurred inside the reactor when the employees were about to collect the samples. Earlier a Watsapp video went viral that Chemist Srinivas went missing and many deemed that he was dead. Right now, his family started protesting in front of the blasted plant.
The government yet to declare about the death of Chemist Srinivas and so far, in a statement, AP Minister for Industries Gautam Reddy said major casualties were averted as there were only four employees at the time of the mishap.
There was panic in the localities near the blast site as the explosions could be heard in a radius of two kilometers. Of course, half a dozen fire engines couldn’t reach the affected site earlier but the rain at midnight helped them very much in putting out the fire. This is the third mishap in the port city in the last couple of months after a styrene gas leak in LG Polymers India Pvt Ltd (LGPI) and another mishap in Sainor Life Sciences.
