Finally, the Andhra Pradesh Government has come to its senses after facing repeated jolts in High court and Supreme courts for months. After a huge fight Nimmagadda Ramesh kumar has got what he has been waiting for. AP Governor Biswa Bhushan harichandan too released a issue of gazette seeking the restoration of Nimmagadda ramesh kumar as SEC. On July 31st Midnight, the AP government led by the YSRCP supremo Jagan Mohan Reddy appointed Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Chief Election Commissioner.
AP government’s Chief Secretary Gopal Krishna Dwivedi issued orders stating that Nimmagadda will take force as the AP Chief Election Commissioner from now on as a response to the High court’s orders that were issued on May 29th.
Earlier, Nimmagadda was exempted from the same duties as his decision to postpone the local body elections in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic led the YSRCP government to fury. They immediately generated an ordinance reducing the term of the State Chief Election Commissioner and relieved Nimmagadda from his duties appointing Kanagaraj as the new SEC which in turn was challenged, fought and succeeded by Nimmagadda in High court that led to his reinstatement.
Weeks ago in a major blow to the government of Andhra Pradesh government, the High Court on has delivered as sensational verdict on former State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar’s case. The court earlier asked the government to continue him as state election commissioner and it didnt happen. It is known that the government has removed him from post following his unilateral decision of postponing the local body elections months ago in the name of Covid. Later the people of andhra pradesh and opposition parties hailed his timely decision in saving thousands that would have been effected because of covid infection. But government didn’t take things cool and YS Jagan mohan reddy wanted to get rid of him at any cost. Ap government tried their best to defeat him in high court to supreme court but in vain.
