It is reported that UK interim prime minister Boris Johnson is campaigning internally to defeat former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak in the election of the British Prime Minister.
As per reports, Johnson has reportedly told his allies to back “anyone but Rishi Sunak”. It is known that Johnson, who belongs to the ruling Conservative Party, resigned from the post of Prime Minister on July 7th due to the accusations against him.
But the in-charge PM is said to be angry that Rishi Sunak has betrayed him and because of him, even the leaders of his own party have distanced themselves from him.
Johnson openly stated that he will not support any leadership candidates or publicly intervene in the contest. He is believed to have held talks with failed contenders to succeed him and requested that Sunak should not become the prime minister.
