Of late Bollywood stars including Anil Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda, Koena Mitra among many others grieved over the demise of legendary actor Chatterjee, who passed away at 85.
Chatterjee was battling illness since quite a while and breathed his last on Sunday afternoon. He was admitted in Belle Vue Hospital, Kolkata and was admitted in ICU after being diagnosed for COVID-19 presence. He was later tested negative. However, his health deteriorated.
Anil Kapoor shared a photo of Soumitra Chatterjee on Twitter. Along with the pic, he wrote, “A legend…an inspiration (sic).”
Anupam Kher specially posted some pictures of the late Dada Saheb Phalke awardee actor on twitter paid homage to him, sharing that he has learnt so much from his astounding skill and craft.
Manoj Bajpayee shared, it was a tragic loss and hailed his remarkable contributions to the Indian cinema.

Chatterjee rose to fame after his films in combination of Oscar-winning legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray and the Feluda series. He eternised the self proclaimed role of Feluda in Ray’s films. In a wonderful career spanning over six decades, Soumitra worked with Ray, Mrinal Sen, Tapan Sinha initially and with Goutam Ghose, Aparna Sen and Rituparno Ghosh in the later years of his career.
