Day 2 of the 1st Test between Australia and India is nothing but a proper Test match affair. India who started off the day at 233-6 managed to score only 11 runs losing all 4 wickets in just 20 minutes. So, Australia had to trail 244 runs that India did put on board and they came to the Indian pacers giving Aussies the taste of their own medicine.
Bumrah, Umesh and Shami literally fired upon the Aussies Top Order giving no freebies to the inexperienced opening pair. When Aussies’ main pillars Smith and Labuschagne looking to put things back on track, Ashwin bamboozled Smith with a straight one and the World NO.1 departed after scoring 1 run to his name.
Labuschagne rode his luck three times, courtesy – India’s poor fielding but Ashwin on the other end kept taking wickets in regular intervals. At one stage, Aussies were 79-5 before Paine and Labuschange stitched a 41-run crucial partnership and later Umesh caught Marnus in front of the stumps.
Aussies skipper Tim Piane played an excellent knock of 73* (99) by hitting boundaries with the help of tailenders to reduce India’s lead to just 53 runs. Ashwin grabs a 4-for and Umesh takes 3 wickets. While batting the tricky final 6 overs, India lost opener Prithwi Shaw (4) cheaply once again. Night Watchman Bumrah and Mayank watched the out the remaining balls carefully as India will start Day 3 with a lead of 62.
