It is a known fact that Lovlina Borgohain has won the bronze medal in Tokyo Olympics 2020 and made the country proud of her achievement. She became only the third Indian boxer to win a medal in the Olympic games, joining two of the biggest icons in Indian boxing — six-time world champion M C Mary Kom and the very-decorated Vijender Singh.
Now, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday felicitated Lovlina Borgohain. During the congratulation programme in Guwahati, the CM asked the 23-year-old boxer to join Assam Police as a DSP. He also presented Rs 1 crore to the India boxer.
The Assam CM further said that the state government will provide Lovlina with a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh till Paris Olympics. He added that a Rs 25 crore sporting complex will be built in Saupathar in Golaghat district of Assam in Lovlina Borgohain’s name. Her coach will also be given Rs 10 lakhs.
