It is a well known fact that Arnab Goswami has been at the forefront with regards to the death case and the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput. Arnab Goswami, in his channel Republic TV, has been covering Sushant’s case on a nonstop basis, and has even made several bold and controversial statements against Bollywood.
Now, several production houses and individual members of Bollywood have filed cases against Republic TV and Arnab Goswami, along with Pradeep Bhandari of the same channel. The lawsuit has been filed against “irresponsible reporting by certain media houses”. The members who have filed this case include four film industry associations and 34 producers, including The Producers Guild of India. The Producers Guild of India has around 130 members, including Bollywood’s leading studios, broadcasters and streaming platforms. With this, almost every banner, private companies and corporate studios in the Hindi film industry is covered.
The individual names include Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, who have production companies of their own. Apart from them, filmmakers like Rohit Shetty, Kabir Khan, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ramesh Sippy, Rakesh Roshan, Ashutosh Gowariker, Ritesh Sidhwani, Sajid Nadiadwala, Luv Ranjan, Siddharth Roy Kapur, Vishal Bhardwaj, Zoya Akhtar, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Abhishek Chaubey are part of the guild.
This case has been filed against Republic TV and Arnab Goswami, after Goswami continued to use derogatory and defamatory terms, while referencing Bollywood. Words like “dirt”, “filth”, “scum”, “druggies” and expressions such as “this is the dirtiest industry in the country”, and “cocaine and LSD drenched Bollywood”, have been used to refer Bollywood, which did not sit well with Bollywood insiders, resulting in the lawsuit.
