Two individuals were taken into custody in Mumbai for the assault on Republic TV’s editorial manager in-chief Arnab Goswami early Thursday morning. The police arrested after the journalist filed a complaint in headquarters in Mumbai, expressing that two men assaulted his vehicle and tossed ‘some fluid’ on it. Arnab and his wife, who was also in the vehicle, were not harmed in the attack.
In his complaint to the police, Arnab expressed that the assault occurred on Ganpatrao Kadam Marg at around 12.15 am on Thursday, while he and his wife were going back home from the Republic TV studio situated in Mumbai’s Lower Parel zone. Arnab asserted that the miscreants, who were on a Motorbike, slammed against the entryway and window of his vehicle, poured ‘some fluid’ on it and hurled abuses.
Following Arnab’s complaint, two people were arrested under Section 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC, Mumbai DCP Zone 3.
The two men were in a matter of seconds captured by his security faculty, Arnab included, and asserted in his police complaint that the assailants had recognized themselves as individuals from the Youth Congress to his security work force. Nonetheless, there has been no confirmation of the equivalent by either police or the youth.
The attack happened shortly after numerous police complaints were filed against Arnab for a news bulletin on Republic TV where he took a dig on Congress President Sonia Gandhi and grilled her for not speaking up on the Palghar incident.
